Enrichment of chalcophile elements in seawater ...

 · Chalcophile elements are enriched in the Cretaceous–Paleogene (KPg) boundary clays from Stevns Klint, Denmark. As the concentrations of Cu, Ag, and Pb among several chalcophile elements such as Cu, Zn, Ga, As, Ag, and Pb are correlated with those of Ir, we suggest that these elements were supplied to the oceans by processes related to the endCretaceous asteroid impact.

 · An example of a sequential CuPbZn flowsheet is given in Fig. 14. A first flotation stage is carried out at low pH (pH 6), in which the copper sulphide is floated while both galena and sphalerite are depressed. As shown in Fig. 13, at low pH both lead and zinc float poorly, while copper can still be recovered at high values.

 · The data analysis implied that the effect of the road on the accumulation of heavy metals (Cu, Ni, Pb, Zn) was indirect. As a mechanism, we suggest that Na increases the soil pH, leading to the release of H + ions from SOM functional groups, thereby enhancing the ability of SOM to bind heavy metals (especially Ni and Zn).

Blister copper is 99% pure. It contains impurities mainly iron but little amount of As, Zn, Pb, Ag and Au may also be present. These impurities adversely affect the electrical as well as mechanical properties of copper. Therefore, they must be removed.

Residual Elements in Steel :: Total Materia Article

Residual elements (Cu, Ni, As, Pb, Sn, Sb, Mo, Cr, etc.) are defined as elements which are not added on purpose to steel and which cannot be removed by simple metallurgical processes. The presence of residual elements in steel can have strong effects on mechanical properties. There is therefore clearly the need to identify and to quantify the ...
